While Melbourne may be the nerve centre of I CAN Network at the moment, that doesn’t mean it’s our only focus; for the past few years we’ve been establishing and developing branches elsewhere, so that we can offer our programs to those who don’t happen to live in the City of Four Seasons per Day.TM
We thought it would be nice to give these Networks more of a voice on Grapevine, and to kick off this new direction, here’s Kate Andrews, with a report on I CAN Kyabram, or as the mentees have named the group, “Chilled Folks”. Enjoy!

“This year the I CAN Network began delivering a mentoring program in Kyabram in northern Victoria. Proudly sponsored by Kyabram P-12 College, this program is an interschool endeavour, bringing together students from Kyabram P-12 and St Augustine’s College. The group has been self-named “Chilled Folks”.
Some highlights of our program include playing games and having lots of laughs, hearing inspirational I CAN talks, building teamwork and communication skills and learning more about each other.
We have an amazing group of students, ranging from Year 6 to Year 11, and some awesome adult helpers. Individuals have a wide range of interests, including cats, gem stones, movies, music, tractors, motorbikes, collectable figurines, pets, skateboarding, comics, gardening, horses, drawing, and technology.
We are looking forward to our end of year Celebration Night where we will present some of our achievements to our family and friends. We have had an incredible year, saying I CAN to personal goals and generally discovering the AWE in AWEtism together.”
