The 101

Recently you may have heard the above phrase and wondered “what’s that all about?”

Well, it refers to 101 recommendations for how to make Victoria more inclusive and supportive for people on the spectrum; recommendations derived from an 18 month inquiry by the Victorian Family and Community Services Committee.

These include ensuring that autistics play a central role in developing policies and regulation that affects them, improving support services in rural and regional areas, and the government leading by example in employing more people on the spectrum.

I CAN Network strongly supports these recommendations, as they are in line with our mission; to build a society that benefits from embracing autism. We also practice what we preach; our company policy is that at every level 50% of our staff must be on the spectrum. We have autistic mentors, managers, speakers, even an autistic CEO!
