This November, the I CAN Network will once again allow Autistic young people to take the stage as part of our annual AWETISM Expo!
These Expos are a unique opportunity for our Autistic mentees to showcase their talents to the wider community – to own their obsessions and interests and be themselves, through talks, presentations and exhibitions!
Autistic young people are invited to make a presentation or exhibit on their special interest or talent, in front of an eager audience of teachers, parents, friends and the public.
The Expo will include a networking space for Autistic students, school teachers, parents and potential employers.
Date/ Time: Friday 16 November 2018, arrive 9.30AM for 10AM start (event runs until a 2.30PM Closing)
Address: ANZ Bank Core B, 833 Collins St Docklands (down the road from Southern Cross Station)
Students can either:
- present a 5-10 minute talk, or
- support their friend’s presentation, or
- Run a small exhibit that showcases their interest or a collection they have (we are adding an Exhibition space available on the day). We are hoping that adding an exhibition place will provide an exciting activity for students who need something different to the AWETISM presentations.ntations.
Autistics aged 12 – 24 are welcome to present on their special interest. They need to complete this form: https://goo.gl/forms/Z9FIgSog5sYWWOSG3. Completion of the form is the equivalent to their ticket.
Teachers and students of I CAN Schools are the priority attendees of AWETISM 2018, but the parents of Autistic students are also welcome. Parents and members of the public will be required to book a ticket via: https://www.trybooking.com/WYEW. ANZ is providing a catered lunch for all attending. Please contact us on [email protected] if you have any dietary requirements.
Disclaimer: To avoid confusion, the teachers and students in I CAN Schools DO NOT need to purchase a ticket via TryBooking.
